These rules for the Probation List are starting on 3/26/2025. We might tweak or add to these as we go.

1) The 30-Day Thing

a) If you make a deal with someone here and it doesn't wrap up in 30 days, the person who got the short end of the stick can put the other person's name on the HOS/Probation List (we'll call it the PL from now on).

b) If you both agree a deal will take longer than 30 days – like if someone's doing payments over time – the 30 days starts counting when they mess up what you agreed on.

c) The 30-day rule doesn't apply if the person just refuses to finish the deal or if it can't happen because, say, they sold the item to someone else already.

d) A deal between members isn't just about stuff on the Collector Syndicate Online Community. Any deal between folks here, no matter where it happens, can land someone on the PL.

2) Letting People Know on the Probation Discussion Thread

a) Once the 30 days are up, the person who feels wronged will send a private message (PM) to the other person. This PM should tell them they're bringing it up in the Probation Discussion Thread to maybe get them on the PL. Make this a new PM, not part of an old chat.

b) After sending that PM, the person can then post about it in the Probation Discussion Thread to get the other person considered for the PL.

c) When they post, they should explain everything about the messed-up deal as clearly as they can. If possible, they should include links to the original deal on the boards and any times they tried to contact the person, along with the dates.

d) If the person had to spend extra money because of the problem, they can ask for that back as part of fixing things. We might need to talk about whether those extra costs are reasonable.

e) If finishing the original deal isn't possible anymore, the person can suggest how they think things should be made right.

3) Getting Put on The PL

a) If the person who messed up doesn't reply in 72 hours, they'll get put on the PL.

b) If they do reply in the Probation Discussion Thread and we see that they didn't hold up their end of the deal, they'll be added to the PL.

c) If they couldn't reply within that 72 hours (maybe they were away), they can still come to the Probation Discussion Thread later and explain their side of things.

d) If they haven't replied in the Probation Discussion Thread but are still posting around the community, someone can reply to one of their posts letting them know they're being considered for placement on the PL.

4) Getting Off The PL

a) If the person who put them on the PL asks for them to be removed, they're off.

b) If they make full restitution and the other person is happy, they'll be removed from the PL.

c) If more than one person was involved and they make things right with everyone, they'll be removed from the PL.

5) Probation List versus Hall Of Shame

a) The Probation List is for deals that didn't go as planned.

b) The Hall Of Shame is for serious stuff. Like selling a comic and sending an empty package or junk. Messing with someone's business. Being a repeat offender.

c) The same rules above apply to getting someone considered for the Hall Of Shame.

d) Getting someone on the Hall Of Shame needs a vote.

e) Getting someone off the Hall Of Shame also needs a vote.
