CBCS: New Slab Preview

As serious collectors are aware, the two leading third party grading and encapsulation services are Certified Guaranty Company (CGC) and Comic Book Certification Service (CBCS). Each company has their respective strengths and weaknesses, and accordingly their share of both enthusiastic fans and detractors.

I maintain memberships with, and buy, sell, and trade graded books from both companies, so like many other enthusiasts, CBCS’ announcement that they would be rolling out new slabs and labels caught my interest. While that announcement was made several months ago, they have yet to hit the market – I assume in part due to COVID-19 related delays.

It looks like that will be changing soon, as CBCS has sent some samples of their new slabs out for review. Check out the vids below for two of these reviews.

I currently have 11 books with CBCS, and another twenty to be shipped next week, so it would seem pretty likely that they will all be encapsulated in the new slabs. When I have them back in hand, I’ll share the results, so check back and let me know what you think.
